Solutions for the Shipbuilding and Repair Industry
The shipbuilding and ship repair industry has very unique characteristics in the global industrial panorama that allow the use and exploitation of the sea and its great export potential. In fact, it is expected that the oceans, including the Arctic Ocean as a new key area, will see their importance in the supply of fossil fuels grow even further and, from 2030 onwards, their supply capacity will be expanded, with the probable entry into exploitation of natural gas, obtained from methane hydrates located at the bottom of the oceans. For the first time, the oceans will be seen as an indispensable source of minerals.
FERESPE has a wide range of products for this industry, producing components such as valve and pump bodies, cylinder heads, bends, elbows and rollers.
In order to meet the quality requirements of the shipbuilding and ship repair industry, FERESPE continually seeks to improve the properties of the materials it uses and its production processes. This proactive attitude is based on solid partnerships with Universities and Technology Centres.
FERESPE qualified inspectors carry out in-house Non-Destructive Testing (PT, MT, UT and Radioscopy) in accordance with SNT-TC-1A and EN ISO 9171:2012. We also subcontract PT, MT, UT and RT activities to qualified inspectors.
The destructive tests we carry out in-house include tension tests, impact tests, hardness tests – in the laboratory and at the factory – and micrographic analysis tests. If necessary, destructive tests can be subcontracted to laboratories accredited to EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005, with whom we have a long-standing relationship.
For welding operations, FERESPE has qualified welders in accordance with EN 9606-1 and ASME IX, along with qualified welding procedures for relevant materials in accordance with EN 11970, EN ISO 15614-4 and ASME IX.
As a result of its long experience in supplying sand castings to this market, FERESPE is knowledgeable about the various standards and codes. Our expertise is backed up by statistical data on key parameters, for example in Tensile Testing, Impact Hardness at low and cryogenic temperatures, Corrosion Resistance and Micrographic Analysis.
FERESPE has a complete range of medium and low alloy steels with low residual contents for better performance.
