In 2019, primary energy consumption remained at the level of 2018 (-0.03%). Despite the stabilization of this indicator, the contributions of each form of energy varied significantly.

On the rising side, natural gas and oil products stand out, growing 5.1% and 7.9% respectively, while fossil coal registered a drop of 53.7%.

In the case of natural gas, the growth is mainly due to greater use in thermoelectric power stations.

Regarding petroleum products, growth is strongly influenced by consumption as a raw material in the petrochemical industry.

The reduction in fossil coal consumption that occurred in thermoelectric power stations corresponds to a decrease of 1,447 ktoe (2,437 thousand tons of hard coal).
