The shakeout process is crucial for producing high-quality metal castings in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible manner.
The casting shakeout process is a critical step in FERESPE operations: the solidified metal casting is separated from the mould material. After the metal has cooled and solidified in the mould, the shakeout process begins by breaking down the mould. This is typically done using vibration to dislodge the casting from the mould. The primary purpose of shakeout is to retrieve the casting intact while removing excess material, mould remnants, and any sand or core material that remains attached.
Additionally, recovered sand is recycled at FERESPE for future use enabling the reuse of moulding materials and reducing waste.
After shakeout, FERESPE further cleaning processes like shot blasting or grinding are often necessary to remove any remaining mould material or surface imperfections.
